A F Lucas Shaper Design and Surfessência carry a story that spans generations. Its roots lie in the Lucas family's tradition of surfboard manufacturing, which began in 1979 when Josa Lucas, Felipe's father, created Magia Tropical.
Since then, knowledge about design, construction, and the behavior of boards in the water has been passed down, experimented with, and refined over the years.
Felipe grew up in this universe. A surfer and shaper since childhood, he learned to shape from his father at the age of 11 and transformed this family influence into a professional journey marked by a constant quest for knowledge and evolution.
His experience has crossed the borders of Brazil. Throughout his career, Felipe has worked and observed manufacturing processes in countries such as Spain, Costa Rica, the United States, Hawaii, and Australia, interacting with different factories, techniques, and some of the great names in global board design, such as Eric Arakawa, John Carper, Brian Buckley, Mayhem (Lost), JS, Chilli, and Simon Anderson.
This background has helped build the identity of F Lucas Shaper Design: a brand that combines the artisanal tradition of shaping with the constant evolution of design and performance. Each board is developed considering the surfer, their level, surfing style, goals, and the wave conditions where it will be used.
The result is a wide range of boards, from High Performance models to fishes, twin fins, single fins, mid lengths, funboards, longboards, and guns, as well as custom projects for surfers of different levels.
Currently, our factory produces boards for the brands F Lucas, Surfessência, Viking Surfboards, and Eric Arakawa, bringing together different concepts, lines, and surf proposals under one production structure. We work with PU and EPS boards, from high-performance models to fishes, twin fins, single fins, mid lengths, funboards, longboards, and guns. Each board undergoes a process that combines artisanal experience, technology, and attention to detail, from shaping to lamination and final finishing, whether in standard models or custom-made projects.
More than just manufacturing boards, F Lucas seeks to preserve the essence of the shaper's work: to understand the surfer and transform curves, lines, volume, and experience into a board capable of creating a natural connection between surfer, equipment, and wave.
